History
Ο δήμος συστάθηκε με το ΦΕΚ 244Α - 04/12/1997 με την απόσπαση του οικισμού Μέγα Χωρίον από την κοινότητα Μεγάλου Χωρίου και τον ορισμό του ως έδρα του δήμου. Με το ΦΕΚ 87Α - 07/06/2010 προσαρτήθηκε στο δήμο Καρπενησίου και καταργήθηκε.
