O Rudo Schwarz ξεκίνησε την ενασχόλησή του με τη ζωγραφική από νεαρή ηλικία ως αυτοδίδακτος και μετά μαθήτευσε κοντά σε φημισμένους δασκάλους. Την περίοδο 1943-1944 υπηρέτησε στρατιωτικά την Κρήτη.
